Neurocognitive Therapy- ReadON & DGAIM
ReadON & DGAIM
ReadON and DGAIM are game-based softwares that may benefit anyone who has issues with attention and faces reading challenges. Neurocognitive therapy is one of the methods that has been created in recent times which combines features of cognitive therapy with enabling elements of neuroplasticity to address both the neurocognitive and psychological aspects of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Specific Learning Disorder.
ReadON is a psycho-educational tool, a gamified digital cognitive therapy that employs neuroplasticity to promote reading skills and improve cognition. For people with learning difficulties, it comprises 15 sessions of specialised cognitive training and 30 sessions of reading instruction. It is a stimulating software that builds phonemic awareness, graphonemic understanding, and language awareness using fast-moving images, varied sounds, and a multi-sensory approach.
DGAIM, on the other hand, comprises 30 cognitive training sessions for individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and helps them build attention, concentration, focus, memory, skills of planning, and prioritizing.
These games are based on the concept of neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to change and reorganise its structure and function in response to experiences, learning, and environmental influences. Neuroplasticity is an essential characteristic of the brain that allows for learning, memory formation, and recovery from traumas or neurological diseases.
ReadON and DGAIM are already being used by schools, NGOs, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and special education teachers in various countries like Canada, Dubai, etc. The findings of the softwares have been impressive and promise a great way forward!
